JAPANESE STUDIES STUDENTS
These are the international students who are the Japanese governmental (MEXT) scholarship recipients and interested in deepening their understanding of the Japanese language, Japanese affairs and Japanese culture.
Applicants should be undergraduates at foreign (non-Japanese) universities majoring in fields related to the Japanese language or Japanese culture.
You can apply in one of the following two ways.
- 亂Embassy recommendation亃
- Candidates are selected at the Japanese Embassies in the students' countries of origin, and the final selection is made by the MEXT from among the recommended candidates.
- 亂University recommendation亃
- Candidates are recommended by NWU's student exchange partner universities. They are screened by the NWU, and recommended to the MEXT. The final selection is made by the MEXT from among the recommended candidates.

TEACHER TRAINING STUDENTS
These are the international students who are the Japanese governmental (MEXT) scholarship recipients and studying about school education in Japanese universities. Applicants must be graduate of universities or teacher training schools and have worked as teachers at elementary or secondary educational institutions or teacher training schools in their home countries for at least five years in total.
Candidates are selected at the Japanese Embassies in the students' countries of origin, and the final selection is made by the MEXT from among the recommended candidates. (Embassy recommendation)
